The Full Story

Henriette was born in Denmark and lived there for the first 8 years of her life.  Since then she has moved countries several times and has had the good fortune to live in some wonderful and interesting places, including Kenya, Dubai, Egypt and UK.  In 1994 she emigrated to New Zealand and has lived in beautiful New Plymouth ever since.

Having always been creative she took up painting a few years after arriving in New Zealand and first started with oil paints and brushes.  Henriette always had a vision of standing in front of an easel creating large, colourful and bold abstracts but found herself feeling confined and restricted  by her brushes.  Then she discovered and started experimenting with fluid acrylics.  This medium proved to be a revelation as it allowed her to embrace a greater sense of freedom and experimentation in her art.  Working with fluid acrylics is a challenging and messy process and the results can be highly unpredictable.  However, it is also incredibly fun, exciting and satisfying as Henriette is constantly surprised by the unique outcomes that occur.

It brings Henriette great joy to share her artistic journey with others and to see the impact that her creations have on viewers.
